Sommore Comedy Show Review

BY ATTIYYA ANTHONY
Life is hard nowadays—the creditors are demanding some more of your money, your nagging significant other wants some more quality time, and your job wants you to put in some more hours. Everyone wants some more.

On Saturday, August 8th, at 8 pm comedienne Lori Ann Rambough, also known as Sommore delivered an electric dose of ‘some more’ that kept giggles in the throats of over 800 attendees at the Marion Technical Institute Auditorium in Ocala.
Her unique mix of sex, spunk and wisdom make her comedy show a treat for any one legally old enough to buy cigarettes. This weekend she joked about what Soulja Boy really means by doing the ‘Superman’ (and it’s definitely not a dance move), President Obama’s White House swagger, and the secret behind what’s underneath Flavor Flav’s big clock.

“It’s hard if you prepare a show and the audience doesn’t come or doesn’t get the jokes. But this audience, they’re great. They’re intelligent and they get the jokes – that’s what I love about them,” she said.

This is Sommore’s fourth performance in Ocala. “It’s a great untapped market as far as comedy and entertainment is concerned,” she said. “I come here to run my jokes out – see what I like, what works and what doesn’t. I want to thank Ocala and ask them to continue to support us. As long as they provide a venue for us to perform, we’ll continue to come.”
Sommore has been performing for 15 years, and the funny seems to follow her. During our interview a woman slipped and fell on a quest for gum. “You never know what’s going to happen when you’re around comedians,” she said.

She has been featured on the Queens of Comedy, BETs Comicview, Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at the Apollo, Celebrity Fit Club, The Parkers and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Currently, she is preparing for her upcoming stand-up special and touring to promote her new DVD, The Queen Stands Alone available at Target, Wal-Mart and Best Buy.
